My Approach is Holistic

Communication is a cornerstone of self expression and engagement with the world.

Communication is one of the most fundamental components of life; it's how we express our thoughts, feelings, needs, and so much more. It allows us to grow, develop, and form connections. When there are challenges with communication, it affects every aspect of our lives - socially, mentally, emotionally, even physically (i.e. breathing, sleeping, and eating). In turn, learning how to communicate improves every facet of life.

My holistic approach takes into account the whole child, not just the technicalities of their speech and language, and is based on several principles:

Individualization

Your child is unique, and so is their communication! I take time to get to know each child and their unique situation before developing a customized therapy plan.

I work from a place of compassion to discover why they are having communication challenges so I can help them express themselves in a safe and positive way.

Evidence-Based & FUN

I use evidence-based techniques and research to ensure therapy sessions are effective and efficient. However, the utilization of play and fun is essential! Therapy sessions are catered to your child's interests and needs in a fun and natural environment. Activities include the use of children’s books, toys and any other favorite activities that are motivating for your child.

Integration

Helping children communicate requires a integrative approach. While therapies always focus on communication, the specific techniques utilized also touch on physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and lifestyle aspects of their wellbeing.

The benefits of integrating the techniques we use in therapy at home cannot be understated!

Collaboration

I work closely with parents and other professionals on your child's care team to ensure our therapy plans are aligned with your child's overall care plan.

Encouraging parents to be active participants in their child's speech and language development not only helps the child, but improves the overall wellbeing of the family.
